LWGC COVID-19 SAFETY STATEMENT  & WHAT TO EXPECT

Updated September 2021.

We are so pleased that we can get back to a level of normality however, we recognise that the risks of Covid-19 have not completely disappeared and with that in mind we have decided to keep a number of our Covid-Secure measures in place.

During the Summer we invited Public Health England into the gym for a supportive visit to see if there is anything we can be doing better. Their feedback was was hugely reassuring and they commented that our control measures are exemplary! They said that our measures provided a safe environment for our members and that we were doing more than was recommended. Of particular note were our robust cleaning measures and new ventilation system, which provides a higher number of air changes per hour than is required to reduce the risk of Covid-19 spreading.

When our Gymnasts return in September, you can expect a number of our measures to stay in place, we hope these will further reassure you that your children are keeping active and healthy in a safe environment:

  • Children will be working in small groups which remain the same each week with very limited mixing between groups.

  • We are keeping our staggered start/finish times to limit numbers of children and adults crossing over at entry & dismissal.

  • Thorough cleaning remains throughout the day, in-between sessions and at the end of each day.

  • Hand sanitising stations remain and gymnasts will be encouraged to use these often.

  • An excellent level of ventilation via our new system.

  • Our viewing gallery will remain closed on the evenings and weekends in order to limit numbers in our building. This will be kept under review and we plan to re-open our viewing gallery as soon as we can do so safely.

We are so pleased to announce that all of our full-sized Olympic apparatus is back in use, our brand new foam pit, our fast track and Olympic-sized beams and both sets of uneven bars are all ready and waiting!
In addition to this, during social-distancing we added many new pieces of apparatus to the gym so that the children could work on their own equipment, these included beams, bars and air tracks! This new equipment will still be in use, meaning that we have more apparatus for the children to practice on than ever before!

If your child is unwell, or shows any symptoms of Covid-19, they should not attend LWGC and you should follow Government guidance on self isolating and testing procedures.

If your child has been advised to self-isolate we ask that you follow that guidance and that they don't attend LWGC.

All gymnasts will need to wear either their LWGC t-shirt with suitable bottoms such as leggings or shorts

OR

an an LWGC Leotard (preferred) and optional with shorts or suitable bottoms we will also allow non-LWGC leotards but would like to move towards a uniform look for all gymnasts as we feel it prevents peer-pressure and helps to convey a community feel and team ethos which is so important in our sport.

All gymnasts will need to attend with slip on and off shoes such as sliders or flip flops, these are easy to remove and ensure the seamless transition between the start & end of the classes. This footwear is also smaller in size so will fit into their LWGC drawstring bag, which the gymnasts will bring with them.

All of our coaches at LWGC cannot wait to see our gymnasts back to the sport we all love! Thank you to everyone for your amazing support and commitment during these challenging times, we are so grateful to have such fantastic members.
