Children will compete during their usual class time, and they will compete in their usual class groups.

✨All parents & carers are most welcome to come and spectate if you wish.

✨All children will get a medal for taking part and the winner from each group will get a different coloured medal and will be presented with two tickets to the final on Sunday 29th March.

✨Please remember that our Annual Championships are supposed to be fun & pressure free, please just encourage your gymnast to enjoy the fun, supportive team atmosphere, where all the children will cheer one another on.

A part of your child's gymnastics class from now until then will include some practice for the championships, but they will also continue to work around the apparatus as they usually do.

We often have requests from parents to see a video of the routines the children are working on, in case some gymnasts have missed a session. There is no requirement for your child to practice but if they would like to, that's fine too.

You can see videos of the routines below...

✨ Our Gymstars are practicing little routines within their small groups on Floor, Bars and Vault.

✨ Parents will be invited into the gym to watch their little ones perform and will be able to sit on the edges around the floor area. Upstairs will still be open if you have younger siblings who want to play with the toys/would prefer to watch from there.

Please can you ensure your gymnast is in their club t-shirt and leggings/ or leotard.

If the girls are able to have 2 plaits that would be great but no pressure.

✨ All of the Gymstars will be a winner and will be awarded with a medal at the end of the competition.

Looking forward to competition week :)

Squad children... Kym will be in touch with all the info you need.

9th - 14th December 2019

We are celebrating awards week in the penultimate week of term 9th - 14th December!

You can also click here to see our December events, including fun week, term dates & our shoebox appeal for Helping Hands

Since September our Gymnasts have been working hard each week learning and perfecting a variety of skills across multiple pieces of apparatus.

At the end of their session during awards week, Gymnasts will be presented with any certificates they have achieved this term.

Any gymnasts who unable to attend during awards week will still be able to collect their certificates and any medals achieved in their next class, so please don’t worry about the possibility of missing out.

How do the Pre-School certificates work?

Over the past term all our Gymstars have been working very hard towards our awards which have their own set of criteria. The awards are:

In addition to the certificates, we will also be handing out 12 trophies across the whole of our pre-school classes. These trophies have been carefully selected to award individual gymnasts who the coaches have noticed have displayed our club values consistently. Trophy winners will keep their award forever in recognition of their achievements and hard work.

We are so proud of all our little gym stars and their determination and progress during all their sessions.

I would love to invite all grown ups into the gym hall for the last 10 minutes of the class to watch from the floor and see the children's smiles as they're awarded their certificates.

Please see the information below regarding conduct & rules when in the gym. You are most welcome to watch from the mezzanine if you have younger siblings.

See you soon! Eden - Head Coach, Pre-School

How do the certificates work?

  • The certificates are split across the four apparatus we specialise in at LWGC. These are Floor, Beam, Bars and Vault.

  • The order of the certificates is as follows:

  • Once a gymnast has completed the same colour level across all four disciplines, they will also receive a medal which has a ribbon in the colour of the award to show that they have completed everything in that colour level.

The week itself:

We would like to invite you into the gym to watch your child's class & see them receive any certificates and medals due.

We will have strips of purple matting along each side of the floor where spectators are welcome to sit and watch.

Please remember the following if coming into the gym to spectate:

  • No photographs at all in the gym please. Your children will love having your full attention & we will provide a dedicated photograph area in the foyer for you to take your proud photographs after their lesson.

  • No shoes to be worn on the red or purple floor areas.

  • NO FOOD in the gym.

  • Drinks are only to be consumed on the grey carpeted floor area that runs along the entrance to the side of the gym.

  • Younger siblings are welcome in the gym but will need to be able to sit & watch on the purple matting, if you think this may be tricky for an hour, the mezzanine will still be available to all parents and you are most welcome to watch from upstairs.

  • Praise is encouraged always, however, please refrain from cheering or shouting to your child, as this can sometimes have an adverse effect and distract your child & others.

Any gymnasts who unable to attend during awards week will still be able to collect their certificates and any medals achieved in their next class, so please don’t worry about the possibility of missing out.

In addition to the certificates, we will also be handing out 12 trophies across the whole of our general gymnastics classes. These trophies have been carefully selected to award individual gymnasts who the coaches have noticed have displayed our club values consistently. Trophy winners will keep their award forever in recognition of their achievements and hard work.

We are incredibly proud of all of our gymnasts and everything they continue to achieve; whether it’s the perfection of a complex tumbling routine or mastering their first forwards roll. We hope you will join us in celebrating them doing a sport that they love.

See you all soon!

Tom - Head Coach, General Gymnastics

LWGC are delighted to announce that we have been asked to host an experience day run by gymnasts Ellie and Becky Downie, who have personally chosen our club!

We are opening the LWGC doors on Sunday 16th June from 9.30 - 12.30 for the experience day.

Gymnasts will enjoy:

  • A full 45 minute dance warm-up choreographed by Ellie and Becky

  • Followed by an hours group work on four sets of apparatus in 15 minute rotations

  • There will then be a question and answer sessionfollowed by photographs, autographs and games.

This promises to be a once in a lifetime experience to gain tips and skills from two of Team GB’s most skilled and talented members.

Becky & Ellie have limited the spaces at their experience day to 50 places maximum & have placed a minimum age limit of age 5+. The experience day will cost £60 per gymnast.

Please note LWGC is supplying the venue for this wonderful opportunity as we believe it will be an experience to remember forever. We will not make any profit from the event.

February 2019
Congratulations are in order!

Please join us in congratulating Ella, Guy & Zarinah on successfully completing their Level 2 Gymnastics Coaching Qualification, which takes a huge amount of time, hard work and dedication and we are so proud of them!

Please also join us in congratulating our gymnasts who competed in The Winter Warmer 2019 last weekend! Not only did many of them place in all around positions and individual apparatus medals 🥇 we witnessed children succeed and grow in confidence!

For some, succeeding was medalling, for others succeeding was getting up in front of 100’s of people and giving it their all. The coaches were beaming with pride for each and every one 💙

Hard work, commitment, lots of fun and self belief makes for champions like these!

Look at some of these amazing photos from the day!
